Happy holidays from the PayFit team!

It's that time of the year again, - πŸŽβ›„β„οΈπŸ¦ŒπŸŽ„πŸŽ‰ - and what better way to reward your employees for a year's worth of hard work than running payroll early and making sure that everyone receives their salary on time before the festive period?

To ensure your usual pay date is reported correctly to HMRC so that employees receiving Universal Credit are not affected negatively, you can set a temporary pay date in PayFit. Your bank file will use the temporary pay date, while your usual pay date will be reported on your FPS to HMRC.

Temporarily change December's payday

  1. From the left, choose Company Settings then Payroll Set-up.

  2. In the Payment and payslips section, click Edit.

  3. Under the December-only payday section, enter your Christmas pay date in When is your December payday?.

Note, this option only appears after your November payroll has been run and your PayFit account is in December.

  4. Click Save details.

πŸ’‘Please note that your payroll will still follow your regular schedule (e.g. if your payroll regularly runs three business days before your payday, your Christmas payroll will also run three business days before). Ensure that you factor time for bank holidays as these aren't counted as business days. After running payroll for December, your payroll setup will return to normal.

Before running your December payroll, if you record annual leave on PayFit and your annual leave year starts in January, don't forget to set up the dates to be carried over to the following year. For further information, please check out our Help Centre article.
