How to create an eNPS survey

The eNPS (employee Net Promoter Score) survey is an essential tool for measuring engagement and satisfaction across a company. Since the responses are anonymous, employees feel safe sharing their genuine expectations.

Only clients under our Premium plan have access to the eNPS survey. HR surveys can only be created from the Administrator space and results are also only visible to Administrators.

How to set up and manage an eNPS survey in PayFit based on our template

Step 1: Access the survey feature

Go to Performance & Engagement > Surveys

Step 2: Create an eNPS survey

To start a new survey, click Create survey > Use eNPS template, then configure:

  • Question: The question is predefined (and cannot be edited) to measure eNPS: "How likely are you to recommend our company as a great place to work?” Responses use a 1 to 10 scale. If you need to set up a custom survey, please access the following guide.

  • Participants: By default, all employees are included. Participant lists for eNPS cannot be customised to ensure the results remain representative.

  • Anonymity: The survey is anonymous. If your company has fewer than 3 people, launching an eNPS survey is not recommended in order to maintain confidentiality.

  • Frequency: Choose how often the survey repeats:

    • Every 2 weeks

    • Monthly

    • Every 3 months (recommended)

    • Every 6 months

    • Annually

Step 3: Launch and manage the survey

After setting the start date and frequency, activate the survey by clicking Schedule survey. Employees will receive an email inviting them to complete the survey from their employee space, according to the frequency you defined.

If an employee does not respond to a survey and a new survey is launched, any eventual response they submit will be attributed to the most recent active survey. Responses are collected in real time. If enabled, employees can also add comments.

Step 4: Analyse the results

Responses are categorised into three segments:

  • Promoters: score 9–10

  • Neutrals: score 7–8

  • Detractors: score 0–6

The eNPS score follows the standard calculation: percentage of Promoters minus percentage of Detractors, resulting in a score from -100 to +100. Non‑respondents are excluded from the calculation.

Example of a survey sent to 10 employees:

  • 6 employees answered 9 or 10 → 60% Promoters

  • 3 employees answered 7 or 8 → 30% Neutrals

  • 1 employee answered 4 → 10% Detractors

    The eNPS result is 50 because 60% − 10% = 50.

Step 5: Track progress over time

Use the provided charts to observe trends and fluctuations in your eNPS scores over time. To analyse your survey results, see this help article: Analysing your engagement survey results on PayFit, available here.

Delete or pause an eNPS survey

To stop a survey, open your active eNPS survey from the dashboard, then click Pause survey or Delete.

  • If you pause the survey, the next iteration will not be sent and your data will be retained. You can reactivate the survey later and maintain continuity of your data.

  • If you delete the survey, it will no longer appear on your dashboard and all information related to that survey will be deleted and lost.

Our recommendation: Select Pause if you want a temporary break, to preserve your engagement data.
